Thank you for your interest in becoming an IHSS Registry Provider!
The goal of the IHSS program is to provide personalized, quality, caring supportive services to individuals allowing them to remain safely in their homes, avoiding the need for out of home care and providing assistance with daily living needs. We want the best possible care providers on the Registry.
How is this application used? This application will tell us your preferences, the services you're willing to perform, the hours you're willing to work and which Consumer needs you're comfortable meeting. We will check your listed references and conduct an in-person interview with you to evaluate whether or not you will be a good fit for the Registry. When we come to a decision you will be notified by the IHSS Public Authority.
What happens if I'm accepted? Once accepted you will be added to the Registry! Your name and contact information will be given to IHSS Consumers in need of a Provider. The Consumers will call the listed Providers to conduct interviews. Then the Consumer will hire the provider(s) of their choice.
What if I don't want to be on the Registry anymore or need a break? Contact the IHSS Public Authority. Your status can be adjusted at any time. If you want to be removed from the Registry you can be; you can also be put on a temporary hold so that you aren't being referred out to consumers until you decide otherwise. Always let the Public Authority know so that you aren't being referred out to consumers when you aren't available.
What if I change my mind about the services I can perform or my preferences? Any and all preferences can be changed at any time by letting the Public Authority know. Nothing listed in the Intake/Application is a permanent decision. If you have questions about anything call the IHSS Public Authority or CDSS. We appreciate you as a provider and we want to make sure you and your preferences are being respected at all times.
Can I be removed from the Registry involuntarily? Yes. As discussed during orientation there are violations that can make you ineligible for IHSS employment. It is at the discretion of CDSS and the Public Authority whether or not you are a good fit for the Registry. If something happens that makes you no longer eligible you will be notified and removed from the Registry.
If I'm on the Registry am I employed by CDSS or TEACH? No. As an IHSS Provider you are employed by the consumer(s). The consumer hires and fires providers, much like any other employer.
Please fill out the application completely; incomplete applications will result in denial from the Registry. If you are already a Provider this will be used as an intake to update your information.
